TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Heavy duty ½” drill
  • Mortar mixing paddle
  • ¼” x ¼” square notched trowel
  • Grout Bag (optional)
SURFACE PREPARATION
  • Surface must be in accordance with ANSI 108.4
  • Surface must be clean and free from grease, paint, sealants, oil, old adhesive, dust or any other impurities that could impede adherence
SONOGRIP™ PREPARATION
  • Firmly hold container
  • Using a low revolution mixer (500 rpm), thoroughly mix dry substances settled on bottom of container by carrying out slight bottom-to-top movements.
  • Mix until a dense foamy consistency and uniform color of bluish-gray is obtained (total mixing time: 5 minutes)
  • Optional:  Using grout bag, SonoGrip may be used to fill gaps along walls, under baseboards, around pipes and any other areas identified as sound or vibration transmission source.
“AS ADHESIVE” APPLICATION METHOD

Note:  Maximum tile size of 16” x 16”.  DO NOT USE ADHESIVE METHOD WITH GREEN OR WHITE MARBLE.  As Adhesive application, substrate must have deflection less than L/360 for ceramic and L/720 for natural stone.  May also be used to adhere cement and other backer boards to substrate creating a “fasten less” system.

  • Using flat side of ¼” x ¼” square notched trowel, key in SonoGripTM adhesive to substrate.  Apply additional adhesive using notched side of trowel at 45 degree angle to the surface, combing in one direction.
  • Press tile firmly into place in a perpendicular motion across ridges.  This action will flatten ridges, thus achieving maximum coverage.  Back buttering may be advisable on some tiles, however, be certain to maintain thickness of no more than 1/8”.  Do not force SonoGripTM up between tiles.
  • Adjust tile and periodically pull up a tile to ensure required coverage is being achieved.
  • Do not apply more adhesive than can be covered within 10 – 15 minutes.  If adhesive skins over, remove and reapply before setting tile.
  • Easy clean up – use water for wet adhesive.  For dried adhesive, wet with water and scrape with plastic scraper.  Wipe off residual with water soaked rag.
“AS MEMBRANE” APPLICATION METHOD

Note:  Use under any type of flooring requiring acoustic insulation and crack isolation.

  • Spread SonoGrip™ using a ¼” x ¼” square notched trowel.  Using flat edge of trowel with movement across ridges, flatten SonoGripTM to a uniform 1/8” thickness.  Complete coverage must be achieved.  Let dry 12 – 24 hours, or more if high humidity conditions exist.
  • Install tile with latex modified thin-set mortar meeting ANSI 118.4.  Install other surfaces per flooring manufacturer’s recommendations.
